If you didn’t get a chance to go this year, you missed out on the 10th anniversary of the Italian Winemakers’ Tour that traveled throughout Florida. Nadia Galati and Alberello Imports brought over some of the best winemakers from Italy to introduce ABC’s guests to the newest vintages that are available in our stores. I was lucky enough to find my way over to Palm Coast on Saturday night for the final stop of the tour.
Heading into the store around 4:30 pm, I got to see the crowd that had come out to meet 11 winemakers and their spectacular wines. I didn’t even know where to start, but luckily, working for ABC puts me a step ahead! I rushed over to Rainoldi to taste their Nebbiolo. We carry three wines from this producer and I needed to taste all three…was very glad I did. But, I had to move on! There were too many wines and too little time, which is not a bad thing. I just had to cherry pick, and not taste everything. I moved over to La Gerla where I got to taste Sangiovese from Montalcino. Another three great wines from this producer; go look for Birba on your next trip to ABC. From there I looked over and saw Collalto Prosecco and knew I had to cleanse my palate with their brut bubbles. As I said before, working for ABC helped me know a few places I wanted to go before the 6:00 deadline. Now, palate cleansed, I headed to Poggerino for their Chianti Classico and Reserva where I fell in love all over again. If you ever need a wine pairing for dinner for a great price, you will never go wrong here. I left there and turned around to find Racemi and the Primitivo grape from southern Italy. Now, time was getting short and I had too many left. What was I supposed to do? Wanting to finish on a high note, I saw La Cappucina with their red blend Madego. This was one of the first wines I tasted from Nadia’s selection and it became a fast favorite, especially for under $15.
At 6:00 I caught my breath and smiled at what I got to taste and who I got to meet. Congratulations on another great year and can’t wait to do it again next year!
