Tobacconists… We’ve got ’em!

ThinkstockPhotos-91499786Here at ABC we have now doubled our number of certified tobacconist from ten to twenty team members. Why?

blogWell, one of the questions I get asked the most is how someone new to cigars is supposed to improve their knowledge and learn how to select cigars that are right for them. As someone who’s enjoyed cigars for most of his adult life it would be easy for me to forget that overwhelming feeling of walking into a humidor for the first time. Fortunately for me my first trip into a cigar shop included an encounter with a tobacconist and he made me feel comfortable and assisted me with my first selection. I went back to this shop several times and because of that was able to broaden my horizons when it came to the cigar experience.

We want your product horizon to be nothing short of vast. This means that your chances are now even greater that you will encounter someone who has dedicated a lot of effort in learning the cigar craft when you visit one of our stores.

I spend a lot of time traveling around the state and because of that I get the chance to visit a lot of tobacco shops and lounges. I really enjoy interacting with tobacconists because it’s great talking with people who share your passion for cigars. Another positive of these interactions is that I learn something new with every visit. As with wine, craft beer, or spirits the quest for knowledge never ends. There is always something new I haven’t tried and the only way to know if I am going to like it is to learn about it and ultimately try it.
CaptureA true tobacconist’s goal should be to provide you with a product they believe you will enjoy, not something that they prefer. It also shouldn’t be their goal to sell you the most expensive thing in the humidor because developing trust is more important that a one-time sale. We want you to feel comfortable in the humidor, we want you to ask questions, and we want you to come back.

So if you are looking for another place to purchase cigars or just come in and learn about them, pop into your neighborhood ABC store. I am certain you will be surprised with our selection as well as the knowledge of the person assisting you.
