The week is finally fizzling out and we’re headed straight for the weekend. And as long as the weather holds out, it’s looking like it’ll be a good one. That definitely means we need a cocktail to get it started. Let’s call it a fingers-crossed, good-luck imbibe. A lucky charm for better weather and a great weekend. Or you could just call it the Floradora.
We discovered this gin-based cocktail after jonesing for a drink made with raspberry syrup. Fairly common and easy to make, the Floradora uses fresh lime juice, raspberry syrup, ginger ale and, of course, gin. It’s fizzy and fresh and one of the better cocktails we’ve made recently. It tastes like a late summer cocktail should, and even if it does rain this weekend, you could always make yourself another Floradora. Maybe it’ll clear up the skies. After all, this is our fingers-crossed, good-luck imbibe.
1 1/2 oz Gin (we used Hendrick’s)
1/2 oz Raspberry syrup
1/2 oz Lime juice
Combine gin, raspberry syrup and lime juice in a shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into a highball glass packed with fresh ice. Top with ginger ale.
We garnished our Floradora with raspberries and lime for added color and freshness. Enjoy your Florida weekend and good luck with clear skies!
