I learned today (yes, today) that May 4th (yes, today) is for Jedis. All this time and I thought May 4th was a general Star Wars Day, a day to celebrate whatever Ewok, Sith, clone or Jedi you please. But I was wrong. Tomorrow is for the villains, because tomorrow is May 5. Or as serious Star Wars fans call it, Revenge of the Fifth.
So today, we’ll stay away from Darth drinks and Storm Trooper tipples. Instead, we’ll direct you to the lighter side of things and suggest a beer to match some of our favorite Jedis. Give us your suggestions below or tweet us @abcbeercountry! May the Force be with you.
Luke Skywalker // Pale Ale
Luke is what he is. So is pale ale. Each can stand alone and are both quite easily a popular go-to for many people–Favorite Jedi? Luke. Favorite beer style? Pale ale. With a little help, they can both become better than what they are, but left as is, they are steadfast, powerful (flavorful), appealing and respected.
Obi-Wan Kenobi // IPA
Obi-Wan is the one to look up to, and you can say the same for an IPA. Strong and calculated, both lead the pack with ease.
Qui-Gon Jinn // Imperial Stout
Though this Jedi Master was killed in a duel, his legacy lived on. Kind of like an imperial stout–if you have a good one, you’ll never forget it and it will be the beer you compare all other dark renditions to.
Yoda // Gose
As everyone knows, this quirky Jedi is the wisest of the wise. But he knows what he’s doing. We matched him to Gose because we feel the same about this style of beer. Sure it’s interesting and unusual, but it is a style you must respect to truly appreciate.
Rey // Hefeweizen
Rey might not be a Jedi (yet), but she’s clearly Force-sensitive. Plus–spoiler alert!–she has a staring contest with Luke Skywalker at the end of The Force Awakens, so we can all agree that she’s on track. Which is why we’ve matched her to hefeweizen.
