Highland Pilsner

2015_sept_brewery_deck.jpgIn addition to brewery renovations and experimenting with a new canning line, Asheville-based Highland Brewing Company has been pumping out new brews since their hiring of new head brewer Hollie Stephenson. We had a chance to talk to her about everything Highland in a recent issue of Off Tap. (You can read the article here.) But when we talked to Hollie, they had not yet canned any of their beers, though they were gearing up to do just that. Highland’s latest beer to ABC shelves is one such brew.

pint_glass_highlandbrewing.jpgHighland Pilsner uses four different Hallertau region hops added at four different points in the brewing process,” Hollie said. “I love this pilsner because we use my favorite German pilsner malt as 100% of the grain bill and, of course, the cool hops. It is crisp, easy to drink, but interesting enough to be a year-round favorite, not just a summer beer.”

Highland Pilsner joins the brewery’s core line-up and will be available statewide in the coming weeks. Look for it to be a light, refreshing beer to round out the last summer nights of the year. At 5.5%, Highland Pilsner is highly sessionable, and with a balance of hops, malt and crispness, it’s perfectly palatable and easy-drinking. Pair this with fish tacos and chicken kebabs.
