This is the first installment of a five part series on The Prisoner Wine Company.
Based in Rutherford, California, The Prisoner Wine Company is made up of seasoned wine professionals who are passionate about the industry. To create each of the five wines in their collection, the team works with dedicated growers throughout California. The grapes they source are selected for their high quality and approachability.
The first in their line of wines is The Prisoner. Adorned with a drawing by Spanish artist Francisco Jose de Goya, the label is a dark depiction of a bound prisoner. The colors in the sketch forebode the color of the wine inside. The bottle alone makes an intriguing gift to wine and art lovers, but the liquid inside takes it to the next level.
The grapes for this dark blend are sourced from over 80 vineyards in Napa Valley. Inside the bottle is a jammy mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petite Sirah and Charbono, a little-known Italian varietal planted widely in Argentina. As expected, the wine exudes aromas of Bing cherry, chocolate and fig with a palate of ripe dark fruits, pomegranate, raspberry and vanilla. With juicy, persistent finish The Prisoner is perfect match to roasted red meats and pasta.
All five wines can be found at select ABC Fine Wine & Spirits retailers throughout Florida, as well as online at abcfws.com.
