Black Friday may be inextricably linked to Thanksgiving, but our undoubted favorite part of Thanksgiving is the leftovers. You get the delicious feast that is Turkey Day plus two to three more days of grazing on all that homemade goodness.
Whether it’s a turkey sandwich, sweet potato casserole, mash and gravy or that last slice of pumpkin pie you’re looking to pair beer with, these four beers go exceedingly well with the listed dishes.
Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA + Mash with Gravy
Gravy is delicious and amazing, but it’s also very rich. It’s even richer when floating atop some buttery mashed taters. A hoppy and balanced IPA will cut through the richness with a refreshing slice.
Founder’s Backwoods Bastard + Pumpkin or Pecan Pie
This “Wee Heavy” style (means it’s a strong ale) is bourbon barrel-aged with balanced notes of caramel and whiskey. Caramel and whiskey sound like excellent pairings for a pie to us!
St. Bernardus Abt 12 + Sweet Potato Casserole
Some people like their leftovers straight outta the fridge, unheated. Whether that’s you or not, this nutty, medium-bodied Ale will echo the flavors of this sweet leftover side dish.
Shiner Bock + Turkey Sandwich
Find the cheese you want, slather on the mayo (and/or cranberry) and wash down this sandwich with a malty, satisfying Shiner Bock.
