“Here comes Peter Cottontail, hoppin’ down the bunny trail. Bringin’ every girl and boy baskets full of Easter joy…” and cigars! After you pick up all the goodies for the kiddo’s Easter baskets, pick up the ham, and color the eggs, don’t forget your Easter cigars. It’s Easter and you deserve something a little more special than your everyday smoke. While you are watching the kids hunt eggs, cooking on the grill, or just sitting on patio enjoying another beautiful Sunday, a great cigar will only make it better. My everyday cigar is less than $5, and I usually bounce between an Acid Blondie or a Liga Unico Papas Fritas. So, on a holiday I don’t mind spending a little more and like to try something different. Here are my five Easter picks: 90+ rated cigars all under $20!
Liga Privada No. 9 Corona Doble @ $15.99 you will not be disappointed. “Solid to the touch and packed tightly with loads of hearty tobacco. It’s one of the heaviest blends and is bound by a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper and Brazilian Mata Fina binder. Every puff of the Corona Doble seems to make a bold statement with a complex range of strong earthy flavors, and a sweet tarry finish.” Cigar Aficionado gave it a 94 rating.
Oliva Serie V Melanio Figurado @ $13.99 and a definite must try. “The Oliva Serie V Melanio Figurado has rich, big notes of leather framed by a range of coffee, caramel and woody intonations. It’s a classic smoke. Cigar Aficionado #1 Cigar of the Year for 2014!” Cigar Aficionado gave it a 92 rating.
Diamond Crown Julius Caesar Robusto @ $10.99. “Initial puffs of this darkly wrapped robusto taste a bit green, but pick up heartier notes of black pepper and leather. The finish is oaky.” The number 14 rated cigar by Cigar Aficionado for 2014. They also gave it a 92 rating.
PDR A. Flores Serie Privada Habano @ $8.79 a great buy! “The construction on the cigar, with its sharp box press, is superb. The flavor is even better, balanced and very tasty, with pleasant hints of vanilla, coffee bean and cocoa. The number 10 rated cigar by Cigar Aficionado for 2014!” Cigar Aficionado gave it a 93 rating.
My Father El Centurion H-2K-CT @ $8.49 a great smoke. “Cigar Snob’s Number 1 Cigar for 2015. The Habano 2000 wrapper grown in Connecticut was the key to this smoke. A novel idea that resulted in exciting flavors, perfect balance, and a profile unlike anything else.” Cigar Aficionado gave it a 93 rating.
