This logo is the closest thing to a “quality assurance” you can get on a German wine bottle. V D P , or, Verband Deutscher Pradikats refers to the Association of German Pradikat Wine Estates where an elite group of top wine producers are members, numbering about 180 out of 35000 labels produced in Germany . It was founded in 1910 consisting of 13 regional associations; one for each region in the German wine classification system. Members follow a stricter set of standards than those in the German wine law. They are allowed to use the VDP logo on their wine bottles. This is all “fine and dandy”, but in the end, it’s up to your palate to make the final decision if it meets your quality assurance!
