Apple pie, caramel apples, cider – the season of apple is almost coming to a close. But you know what goes with apples even better than caramel or flour and butter? Bourbon.
Woodford Reserve is a perfect bourbon for apple cider in particular because of the spice of the rye. The sweetness of the apples mixed with the pepper from the bourbon reminds us of spiced, freshly baked apples. This quick recipe will have you sipping your bourbon apple-y ever after.
4 oz Hot Apple Cider
2 oz Woodford Reserve
1 oz Brown Sugar Syrup
For the syrup, combine equal parts water and brown sugar. Bring them to a boil until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool.
