Hold the phone. It’s National Chocolate Day. If you’re reading this, we suspect you already knew that. We also suspect that your second thought, after “Heck yeah, it’s National Chocolate Day,” was “Where’s the wine?” The answer, my friends, is at ABC Fine Wine & Spirits, where we can help you pick exactly the right wine for your favorite chocolate treat.
Since it’s almost Halloween, you might have a few of the classics on hand, like M&Ms, Crunch bar or Twix. Grab whatever milk or dark chocolate you love most on this wonderful holiday and one of these red wines–it’s time to celebrate.
Here’s your quick guide.
BLOCK 047 RED BLEND NAPA 2014 & CRUNCH
A simply chocolate turned crunchy surprise pairs best with a surprising blend of wine. Syrah-driven aromas are supported by the power and strength that come from ripe Cabernet and Merlot. Milk chocolate and berry flavors match nicely in this crunchy/smooth combo.
7 MOONS RED BLEND & M&MS
With aromas of chocolate-covered cherries, baking spices, and vanilla bean, the milk chocolate of the candy sings when it hits the wine on your tongue. This wine has a mid-palate of strawberry preserves and cherry cola, which follows through to a lingering finish that will wash the chocolate down like a dream.
CARNIVOR CABERNET SAUVIGNON & TWIX
This Cab is smooth and ripe, with decent tannic structure that works with the crunch of this chocolate. Aromas and flavors of cherry, blackberry and black currants weave between oak-laden black fruit that mimics the crisp wafer.
